Nice, typical sheep and cattle country.
Stopped at a farm gateway to have my lunch (Toasted hame, cheese, onion and tomatoe sandwhich which travel really well and are a substantial something to eat). The farmer was loading some cattle on to a stock truck and his Mother on the quad bike was moving some sheep along the road to the yards, when she saw me sitting under the shade of their 100 year old Oak trees she did an about turn and came over to chat with me which was nice. She finished by saying make sure you hop the fence and help yourself to plums from the orchard! Which I happily did.
I was at the Nikau Caves Cafe (and camp) bu 2:00 PM and decided to take the hut for the nightrather than pitching the tent. Not many people here and the proprietors are lovely and friendly.
I'm still yet to decide where or which way I will go tomorrow! Maybe up to Port Waikato or alternatively East to a camp close to the Waikato River. Time will tell.
I've now travelled 1,550 km and climbed over 19,000 metres. At this rate by the time I hit Bluff I will have clocked up over 5,000 km I expect.
