It was a 7:00 AMstart from our luxury accommodation for what is to be our longest flat ride (no hills at all to speak of) through to Matamata where once again I am foruntate to be stopping with Henry and Robyn on their farm just out of Matamata.
Today we rode with Lorna from Auckland and Julie from Nelson - two new friends who we had been riding alongside of time to time over the last seven days. We made good on the cycle trail and stopped for morning tea (2nd breakfast) at the "Bugger" Cafe. I opted for the waffles - good choice.
We continued on the trail to the new Kopu Bridge but used the old one to get across the river coz it's been left in place for pedestrians and cyclists. Beyond here we were on the Thames/Te Aroha rail trail and beyond that a sealed cycleway of about 40 km in to Matamata.
Overall I'd say today was an easy longish day.
